FAQ

Questions you might want answered.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing, socks but no shoes. Layers are good in the winter and ideally nothing too baggy, as the teacher needs to see you’re working in a good postural position. Zip pockets in the back of running leggings along with jewellery are potentially uncomfortable so please avoid.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

All the equipment you will be using along with Mats are provided, just bring your good self!

I’ve never been to a Pilates class before, how

do I get started?

Please email Lesley to organize your 45 minute one to one session. This time will be used to teach you the basic principles and some essential exercises. You will feel more at ease and hopefully get more out of your group classes that then follow.

Do you accept clients with injuries?

It depends! If your doctor or practitioner (physiotherapist, osteopath, chiropractor) is happy for you to attend Pilates I would still recommend a one to one and then progress to a class. All new clients are asked to complete a health questionnaire before getting started. The more information you can give me regarding painful restrictions, old/present/chronic injuries the more this will help to speed up the recovery.

How do I book a class if I have done Pilates but

not visited Lesley Bradshaw Pilates before?

Do you have any questions? Please get in touch.

FAQ

Questions you might want

answered.

What should I wear?

You’ll   be   glad   to   hear   that   there’s   no   uniform,   fancy   shoes or     any     lycra     involved     (unless     you     really     want     to!). Comfortable,   loose   fitting   clothes   are   OK   as   long   as   they’re not   too   baggy.   If   your   clothes   have   lots   of   zips   and   pockets it   may   be   a   bit   uncomfortable.   The   teacher   needs   to   be able   to   see   your   body   to   make   corrections.   No   footwear required   and   you   can   either   be   barefooted   or   wear   socks. Please     remove     any     jewellery     and     it     may     be     more comfortable for you to keep your hair tied back.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

Nope, just bring your good self! Any bits of equipment needed in the class will be provided.

I’ve never done Pilates before, where do I

begin from?

Beginners   are   strongly   advised   to   book   an   initial   private session    so    that    we    can    go    over    the    basic    principles    of Pilates   before   joining   a   group   class.   That   way   you   will   be more   at   ease   and   hopefully   you   will   get   more   out   of   your first group classes.

How do I book a class if I have done Pilates

1) Please check the timetable 2) Book a suitable class that is the right level for you (if unsure email Lesley) 3) Email your request and Lesley will respond as quickly as possible to confirm your booking. 4) Complete the client enrolment form

How do I book a class?

If   you   are   injury   free   and   have   no   medical   conditions   that could   affect   you   in   doing   Pilates   please   feel   free   to   sign   up and   book   online.   If      you   have   any   concerns,   please   contact me   first,   let   me   know   what   your   experience   of   Pilates   has been   so   far   and   what   brought   you   to   Pilates   in   the   first place!   I   will   respond   as   swiftly   as   possible   and   will   let   you know   which   class   may   be   more   suitable   to   your   needs   and experience.

Do you accept students with injuries?

It    depends!    Please    check    with    your    doctor    first    before signing    up    to    any    classes.    It’s    really    helpful    If    you    can inform     me     of     any     injuries     or     medical     conditions     in advance.   All   new   clients   are   asked   to   complete   a   health questionnaire before starting their classes with me.
